Payment Options
Simple, secure ways to pay for your handmade Welsh gold jewellery
Flexible & Secure Payment Options
We want purchasing from WelshGold.com to feel straightforward, secure and reassuring.
To accommodate your preferences, we offer two flexible payment structures for all website orders, alongside industry-standard secure processing.
Our Flexible Payment Structures
When you reach the checkout, you can select the payment method that best suits your needs:
Option 1: Pay in Full (100% Upfront)
Customers may choose to pay the full amount due directly at checkout. This settles the entirety of your balance, including any applicable shipping costs or pre-calculated international duties and taxes, allowing us to dispatch your piece the moment it passes quality control.
Option 2: Pay a 50% Deposit
To help spread the cost while your piece is being created, you can choose to pay a 50% deposit at the time of ordering.
- At Checkout: You will pay an initial 50% of the total amount due (this includes 50% of any applicable shipping or pre-calculated international duties and taxes).
- Before Dispatch: The remaining 50% balance becomes payable once your piece has been completed by our workshop. We will contact you via email at that stage, and you will be able to securely log into your online account to complete the final payment before your order is sent to the Assay Office for hallmarking.
Our Secure Two-Step Payment Process
Because genuine Welsh gold and related materials are incredibly rare, we use a secure two-step payment process to verify our physical workshop stock before fully capturing your funds.
Step 1: Secure Authorisation (Pending Hold)
When you place your order at checkout (whether choosing a 50% deposit or 100% payment), we place a secure authorisation hold on your funds to reserve your items. This may temporarily appear as "pending" in your bank or payment account. Please note: we have not fully taken your money at this stage. On your order confirmation email this will appear as 'Total Authorised'.
Step 2: Order Confirmation & Crafting
Within 7 days of your order being placed, our workshop verifies our gold stock and confirms the order can be fulfilled. Once verified, we send you an official Order Acceptance email to let you know that your order is officially underway, formalise the payment capture, and begin crafting your piece.
What happens if we are unable to fulfil your order?
Because genuine Welsh gold is so rare, if our workshop discovers that we are unavailable to fulfil your order, we will get in touch with you directly. Our team will explain the situation and, where appropriate, offer you suitable alternative designs or an updated timeframe.
If you prefer not to proceed with an alternative, or if a solution cannot be found, we will cancel the order before acceptance. In that rare case, we will immediately release the pending authorisation hold and refund any sums back to you.
Secure Online Payment Methods
We accept secure online payments through Stripe.
Stripe supports a range of convenient payment methods, including major credit and debit cards (such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and selected digital wallet services (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, depending on your device)
Please note that the exact payment methods available at checkout may vary according to your physical location, your device settings, and the specific payment services currently enabled.
Direct Bank Transfer
In select circumstances, such as for high-value bespoke commissions or unique offline quotes, we may also accept payment by direct bank transfer. If you would prefer to discuss a direct bank transfer, please contact us at hello@welshgold.com before placing your order and our team will be pleased to assist you.
